Greetings
from the (Past) President

by Teresa Herrera
What a gift, to be allowed to write yet another
“Greetings” to our Bay Section membership. Leo Gonzalez
has asked me to write this month’s article and I do so with great
enthusiasm.
The big event that
just occurred in our CWEA world is the 2002 Annual Conference in
Sacramento
. Many Bay Section members were responsible for organizing the
conference and they should all be proud of the fine job they did.
It turns out that this year’s conference was the most successful,
ever, in terms of number of attendees. There were many
positive comments about the conference that indicate the success of
the overall event. I’d like to convey my thanks to all those
members who worked so hard on putting the conference together, led
by Karl Royer of EBDA and Ray Busch of Oro Loma.
Some of the highlights of the Conference are:

DelMarie!
The Operations Challenge was well attended and
great fun this year. The Bay Section will be represented at
the WEF Conference in Chicago by The Main Force… made up of
members from Oro Loma Sanitary District (Angelino Santos), Castro
Valley Sanitary District (Roland Williams and Sergio Ramirez), Union
Sanitary District (David Stoops)… and, The EBMUD Slingers,
Division II Champions 2001 at WEF. Members of this team are
Carol Weir, Brian Belfeuille, David Freitas, and Patrick Virgin.
Good luck guys and gal!
Last, and not least… our own, John Larson
stepped down as President of CWEA. Thanks, John for all your
hard work this past year.
Well, that’s about it for my Greetings this
month. There were several actions taken at the Northern
Regional Committee meeting that will affect our members, but I’ll
leave that for next month’s article.
Until next time, take care and be safe …
