Local sections are the first step on the ladder towards state and national awards and recognition. The CWEA awards program serves to recognize outstanding professional achievements within the wastewater field.

As a local section leader, you work to ensure that all elements of the program are achieved:

• Ensuring consistency and equity of professional standards for awards
  
• Development and distribution of information and forms for the awards
  
• Review of professional standards and candidates for all awards at a local level
  
• Processing of awards nominations on a local level, and forwarding to the state level
  
• Distribution of awards, including Presidential recognition and other special awards
  
• Managing publicity in your local section
