Test Applications:
Test applications are valid for four test windows.
Test Rescheduling Instructions:
To reschedule a test within your test window, call Pearson VUE directly one business day before your test. Failing to notify Pearson VUE within the required time will result in losing all test fees paid and candidates must repay the entire test fees to reschedule. Call the CWEA office if you must reschedule outside your test window.
Test Rescheduling Fee:
Reschedule one time outside your test window without a fee. Additional reschedules require a $40 rescheduling fee.
Retest Instructions:
Candidates must submit a Retest Application to CWEA along with the appropriate fees. You must skip one test window before retesting.
Test Cancellations Instructions:
To cancel your application you must submit a signed written request (a letter stating you wish to cancel your application) to CWEA. The written request must be received at the CWEA before your test application expires. Full refunds, less a $40 administrative fee, will be made within 4 weeks after the scheduled test date. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Item Appeals:
Candidates can appeal a test questions by using the function Flag to Enter a Comment during the test in the Comment Review screen. You are allowed to add comments to questions as long as you have time remaining. CWEA staff and subject matter experts will review the comments for consideration.
Test Result Notification:
Official test results are mailed to test takers no later than 4 weeks after the test date. All results are confidential and are only released to the certificate candidate. No results are given over the phone.
Issue of Certificate:
Certificates will be issued to all candidates who pass the examination. Certificates are mailed about two to three weeks after result notifications are mailed.
Test Site Admission:
Certificate candidates are required to show at least one valid government issued photo identification (State driver’s license or ID, or passport). Candidates are not required to show their eligibility letters to enter the test site.
Test Security:
All tests are closed- book. Candidates are only allowed to bring an approved calculator into the test site.
Calculator policy:
Onscreen calculators are available on all tests. Candidates may bring a calculator from the approved calculator list.
Casio: |
All fx-115 models; any Casio calculator with fx-115 in its model is allowed. |
Texas Instruments: |
All TI-30x and TI-36x models are allowed. |
Sharp: |
EL models except EL-W516B and EL-W535B are allowed. |
Renewal of Certification:
All certificates must be renewed annually. The first renewal is due one year from the last day of the month in which the certification exam was held. Certificate renewals more than one month past due are subject to the renewal fee plus a late fee. The late fee is a flat fee that graduates the longer the certificate holder waits to renew. Re-testing is required to reinstate certificates more than two years past due. Renewal notices are mailed to certificate holders two months before the due date. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to ensure that his or her certificate(s) remains valid.
Re-Certification:
CWEA Certificate Holders shall be required to renew certificates annually, and shall be required to provide evidence of completion of 12 contact hours of continuing education requirements for certificate renewal every two years, beginning with all certificates renewable in January 2004. Americans with Disabilities Act:
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, reasonable accommodations will be provided for those individuals who provide CWEA with a physician’s certificate, or its equivalent, documenting a physical or psychological disability that may affect the individual’s ability to successfully complete the certification examination. Written requests for reasonable accommodations must be submitted with the test application.
